Anyone who works in an educational establishment and is required to manage or contribute towards health and safety issues. The course is most suitable for teachers, trainers, supply teachers, assistants and caretakers.
Pre-requisites
None, but successful delegates will be required to prepare and present a short (5/8 minute) presentation, complete a written test and work based project. Delegates will be required to conduct a variety of self study exercises that account for 25% of the learning outcomes
Course aims
The course aims to raise awareness of occupational health and safety issues involving young persons and provide necessary skills to improve safety management systems.
Learning outcomes by the end of the programme, delegates will be able to:
- apply basic management principles and practices to health and safety issues
- understand the principles of risk assessment and apply suitable control measures
- apply a variety of monitoring techniques
- recognise and state the components of a successful safety management system
